Tower of Memories

Located on the shrinking island of Madonna del Monte in the Venice lagoon, the Tower of Memories is designed to ease one’s fear of death by allowing them to reflect on their past. To face their fears, one must venture to the depths of the tower in order to be raised to the top. They must then look through the telescope system of pipes which are pointed towards a significant site to the person or a location where an object from their past, which evokes emotion, will be placed. As the water level rises the lower depths of the tower will fill with water, as a reminder that nothing lasts forever.
