The creation of Yayoi Kusama’s work stems from hallucinations and trauma she endured in her childhood, her surroundings and self would vividly become engulfed in patterns and shapes. This became the inception of her journey into obliterating the self through her pattern obsessed artwork. My pattern box created, is influenced by the multitude of points used in Kusama's work. In Kusama's hallucinations the patterns around her were alive and would continue to grow all in the constraints of her mind, thus the pattern I created emulates her mind by  designing points as cultured cells in petri dishes. The cultured cells are alive but contained in the Petri dish alike Kusama's mind.
