Mental Rotation
This display shows an unfolding of plaster pieces, from different orientations. It displays different sides of these shells, by rotating the pieces, thus capturing different perspectives. As one looks at a room from different angles, seeing different elements, shifting these shells allows the viewer to see what they might have missed previously. The void created by the absence of clay allows the viewer to see through multiple holes, giving a glimpse of the interior space, while viewing the shell from the exterior. A heavy contrast is seen between the smooth, crisp lines of the exterior, with the rough, jagged interior.
