Shelter of a Tree
Trees serve as a natural shelter, inexpensive, and sturdy. At times, a tree will not always serve as a full shelter as rain may get through and touch the person who is seeking the shelter. Adapting this thinking to the design serves to acknowledge the feeling a motel could possibly give.
“A temporary stay once the rain has passed.”
This spatial iterations depicts the use of bark from two different trees, the tulip and willow tree The objective is to bring parts and characteristics of Fort Erie inside the space creating a feeling of a “forest” or “tree” to seek shelter from.
The proposed renovation of the motel focuses on 3 main objectives, temporary stay, longer term stay, and public space usage to generate more income for the motel. As a secondary focus, the exploration of parametric design and its unlimited capabilities as materials used can be subjective while form is created with the use of math equations.
